The Mender of Broken Hearts

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds. Psalm 147:3

On February 10, 2014, my husband and I sat down to watch an episode of It's Supernatural by Sid Roth. Watching this show on Monday nights have been a tradition in my home since my husband and I married. There have been episodes that I have loved and others that left me with a lot of questions. However, this one episode on how to heal a broken heart spoke directly to my husband and I.

Miriam: Movement and the Exodus

Imagine being an enslaved nation for 400 years with the promise of a deliverer coming to take you to a promised land. Whenever people are oppressed or in bondage for long periods of time, they become complacent in the idea of being enslaved. Their mindset is to serve whatever master is driving them. Freedom, for them, can be hard to comprehend.

I Will Bless the Lord

I never thought that I would write a praise and worship devotional. I really enjoy worshiping and praising the Lord through dance, but I thought my first book would be about dance. Even though I always knew that I would author a book, the journey to writing this devotional was very interesting. It started off as a simple idea of wanting to share scriptures from the book of Psalm that were relative to praise and worship. However, the Holy Spirit began to guide me as I researched. It was supposed to be a blog post, but it turned into a book. I felt a pull to have this as a book. It's not just for dancers, but for the Body of Christ.

Leave Your Gifts at the Altar

"Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift." Matthew 5:23-24

Dance as a ministry cannot be taken lightly. We use our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit, to minister before our congregations. We may have everything right going for our ministries. We may selected an anointed song to minister to. We may have on a beautiful garment that corresponds with the song. We may understand the meaning of our movements or trained at the best dance school. However, if we are offended by any one, or if we feel that we offended someone the Bible clearly states that we have to go to that person and make it right.

A Healthy Approach to Praise Dance

Dancing is one of the greatest forms of aerobic exercises. If you have ever been out of breath from a really intense piece of choreography or spontaneous dance, then you know exactly what I am talking about. There have been times where I was apart of a 5 minute dance and by the end of it I was ready to fall out on the floor. The thing of it is, I wasn't out of shape. I was actually in great shape. Not knowing how to control my breathing caused me to be more tired than I should be. So, what was the problem? I didn't know how to control my breath. I didn't understand my body and how it works with movement.

Dancing in the Spirit

When I started blogging about liturgical or praise dance in May of 2012, I never thought that I would receive the overwhelming response that I have received. Many readers have written me expressing their thanks for the information and for the site.

The name Dancing in the Spirit, Foundation of Liturgical Dance came to me from the Holy Spirit. Actually, I had started a Facebook group with a similar name, never knowing that I would be prompted to create an online tool to help liturgical dancers.

Why Break Every Chain was the Best Praise Dance Song of 2013

"There is power in the name of Jesus." These are just some of the words to "Break Every Chain" sang by Tasha Cobbs. The original writer, Will Raegen, opened the door for this song to be popularized by Jesus Culture, Kim Walker, and now Tasha Cobbs.

Recently, I researched YouTube to find the best praise dance videos this year and it so happens that most of of the dance ministries on YouTube danced to "Break Every Chain" in 2013. I would say that the top ten praise dance videos of 2013 are of those that ministered to this song. The question is why is this particular song the biggest song to minister to this year. Here are 5 reasons:

1. Easy lyrics Most people like songs that they can sing along to. Songs that are too wordy and too long become rather boring. Most people that enjoy music want to participate with the song. The lyrics to "Break Every Chain" are easy to remember therefore, praise dancers can easily interpret the words to this song to c…
