An honorarium is a payment for services rendered that are usually on a volunteer basis. This includes guest speakers at a conference, pastors, or evangelists that speak at a church other than their ministries. More and more this is becoming the norm of the church. Anyone working in ministry are feeling entitled to payments for using their talents in music and in liturgical dance. Maybe they heard of others receiving payments for dance ministry and wanted to receive the same thing.

I once read something online that troubled me about honorariums for liturgical dancers. A fellow dancer indicated that they will not dance anywhere else unless payment is rendered. This was under the direction of their pastor. The troublin…
