How to teach prophetic dance
There will be times in ministry where liturgical dancers will have to dance without a choreographed routine. Depending on the flow of the Holy Spirit, these times might be frequent or infrequent. To get yourself or your dance ministry prepared for these times in ministry, it is important to help your dancers feel comfortable with improvisation.

What is improvisation? Improvisation is creative expression without specific choreography or routine. This can be found in areas of music, dance, mime, and comedy. To become familiar with improvisation here are a few exercises you can do with your dance ministry.

Why I Dance Prophetically When Ministering in Dance as a Solo

Whenever I am called to dance, I usually dance alone. It's just me and the Lord. Certainly, if I had it my way I would bring an arsenal of dancers to an invitation to minister in dance. But, for now this is the way that it is.

My journey into liturgical dance began with me as a young teenager dancing with the a dance ministry in  a local church in Detroit, MI. I branched off into ministry alone under the direction my mentor. I would dance while she sing. This went on for years. During this season in my life, I always carefully planned or choreographed my steps. It wasn't until the last 2 years in dance ministry that I decided to dance under the leading of the Holy Spirit in prophetic dance.
